Best BBQ Joints In Myrtle Beach
Thursday, March 18, 2010

The Carolinas are known for their barbeque and Myrtle Beach is no exception. Here are the top places to dine on swine on the Grand Strand.

Sticky Fingers Ribhouse
You wouldn't expect a chain restaurant to be featured in this list, but Sticky Fingers breaks the mold. Their restaurants are known as the best authentic Memphis-style ribs and barbeque in the south. Once you sit down, try not to be intimidated by the many bottles of sauce sitting at your table. You can choose from Tennessee Whiskey BBQ, Carolina Classic BBQ, Carolina Sweet BBQ, Original Memphis BBQ, or Habanero Hot BBQ. We recommend covering your slab of ribs in the Carolina Classic BBQ sauce and ordering a tall beer. Be sure to ask for extra napkins!

Little Pigs
This is the kind of place that you picture when you think of great BBQ. There is nothing special about the building, the tables, the atmosphere, except for the pig itself. Little Pigs main focus is on their food, where it should be. No bells and whistles, just good old pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, potato salad, baked beans, and sweet tea. What more could you ask for? The pulled pork is chopped to a perfect consistency and you can choice what type of sauce that you want on it, whether it be vinegar, mild, hot, etc. It's located in a small gas station plaza off of 17 between Broadway at the Beach and Dixie Stampede, don't blink or you'll miss it!

Prosser's Bar-B-Que
Voted as the best barbeque by the locals, Prosser's Bar-B-Que in Murrells Inlet demonstrates what southern cooking is all about. With large portions and low prices, Prosser's is frequented by locals and revisited by tourists year-round. For around $5, you can get either a giant BBQ sandwich with fries OR a pile of BBQ, coleslaw, sweet potatoes, rice with gravy, AND hushpuppies! They also offer a buffet that displays every bit of the heart-clogging glory as their menu and you can get that for under $8. The fried chicken and collard greens are also some of the best in the area.

Hogan's Hickory House BBQ
Hogan's is an excellent family-style barbeque restaurant in Myrtle Beach. When you enter, you will notice a few picnic tables topped with wooden buckets that contain napkins and squeeze bottles of their five unique sauces, original, red, red hot, sweet & smoky, and carolina vinegar. You can squeeze any of these onto their smoked pork, chicken, beef brisket, spare ribs, baby back ribs, or sausage. The beef brisket is their prized meat, which smokes for up to 12 hours to ensure a tender consistency. Hogan's also offers the sides that you would expect from a BBQ joint, like onion rings, baked beans, potato salad, and coleslaw.

Come to Myrtle Beach and enjoy some BBQ with your family. Myrtle Beach Condo Rentals can find you a place to stay which is close to any of these fine restaurants.

Jungle Lagoon Miniature Golf
Mini golf can be a great nighttime activity that the whole family will enjoy! One of the best courses on the Grand Strand is Jungle Lagoon. While you are playing one of the two championship 18-hold courses, you will have the luxury of witnessing tropical plants, varied terrain, cascading waterfalls, a lagoon, streams, a fountain, caves, and very realistic jungle animal statues. The course is only two blocks from the ocean and offers a stimulating panoramic view of Myrtle Beach.

Alligator Adventure
At Alligator Adventure, you'll find yourself face to face with nature's fiercest and most beautiful animals. Located adjacent to Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, Alligator Adventure is one of the largest facilities for reptile life in the world! Over 800 alligators that range in size from eight-inch infants to 15-foot adults that weight 500 to 1,000 pounds are proud to call this place home. On a side note, don't let the name 'Alligator Adventure' fool you! You can find other animals such as snakes, Galapagos tortoises, river otters, beavers, frogs, lizards, turtles, tropical birds, crocodiles, zebras, tigers, and ring-tailed lemurs. At Alligator Adventure, the second day is always free, so if you can't experience everything in one session, you can finish your voyage the following day.

You should set aside quite a few hours before you set off to Broadway. Broadway at the Beach is where you will find many specialty stores. Kids of all ages can custom build their own remote-controlled car at Ridemakerz, which is another extremely popular spot. If you decide to head over to Broadway at nighttime, Celebrity Square offers quite a few bars and dance clubs for your entertainment.

You may not think to go to a mall while you are on vacation, but do not overlook the Coastal Grand Mall. Top 5 Burger Joints in Myrtle Beach
Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Myrtle Beach is well known for having hundreds of restaurants known for their steaks and seafood, but what if you are just looking for a simple cheeseburger one afternoon after sitting at the beach for 6 hours? Take your pick out of our top 5!

River City Café
With 30 unique choices, River City Café seems to be the obvious place to chow down on a juicy burger. If you are looking for more than just your average cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato, this is it. River City has burgers topped with bacon, chili,  jalapenos,  and even peanut butter.  I would highly recommend the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger, although you really can’t go wrong with any of them!

Oliver’s
Oliver’s is a place that you would only know about if you were a local. It’s slightly off the beaten path (in Conway), but it is worth it. Be sure to arrive before 4 or you will arrive to a locked door with a ‘Closed’ sign on the storefront. Any place that is only open for lunch and has been around as long as they have proves that they have quite the following. Oliver’s is just one of those hidden gems that looks like it is always closed but then once you get inside, you are glad you came. Keep it simple here. Get their basic cheeseburger and you’ll see why we put it in our top 5!

Five Guys Burgers and Fries
Oh, how we love the Five Guys chain. Any place where a hamburger automatically has two patties  is right up our alley. Yes, you heard that right. If you want a single hamburger, you have to order a ‘Little’ hamburger. The best thing about Five Guys is the way they cook the patties. You will see several cooks working on your meal right behing the cash register. All of their ingredients are fresh and never frozen. Don’t forget about the unlimited free toppings which consist of your choice of anything from grilled onions and mushrooms to BBQ sauce and fresh jalapenos.  Go with a bacon cheeseburger and a regular order of fresh cut fries. Keep in mind that a regular order of fries is enough to feed 2 or 3 people!

Burky’s Grill
Burky’s Grill is one of those places that gets overlooked in Myrtle Beach. It sits in the parking lot in front of an empty strip mall and will remind you of an old fashioned diner. Burky’s cooks their burgers on a flat top grill, which allows the patties to have a delightful crisp on the outside and a juicy inside.  Order a cheesburger with chili. It’s not on the menu, but locals order it all the time and it will be sure not to disappoint!

Ron Jon’s Beer and Burgers
Ron Jon’s: Home of the $1 beer and $2 burger. It is a local joint located across the street from Freestyle Music Park that is known for their great food and low prices. For only $2, you can get a nice sized burger with all of the fixins. Pair that with a $1 beer after a game of golf in the afternoon to satisfy your post 18 hunger!
