Wright Brothers National Memorial
The Outer Banks calls itself the birthplace of flight, and at the Wright Brothers National Memorial, families can learn how aviation got off the ground. Inside the museum, kids can check out replicas of gliders, inspect sections of the Wrights' planes, and read the research notes of Orville and Wilbur themselves. Outside, a life-size sculpture of the 1903 Wright Flyer and the actual area where the brothers landed their first powered flight can be seen.
